Irrigation manager salary in Australia
An irrigation manager earns a base of $115,000 to $155,000. This is the manager-scope band: someone who owns water strategy, system uptime, compliance and a team, not a hands-on single-system operator.
All figures are base salary in Australian dollars. They exclude superannuation (12 per cent) and the package on top (housing, vehicle and bonuses). Figures as at June 2026.

A lot of “irrigation manager” job ads sit below this band. Those are supervisor-scope roles, and they belong on the irrigation supervisor page at $80,000 to $110,000. Scope sets the band, not the title: a hands-on, single-system role prices as a supervisor even when it is called a manager, and a supervisor-titled role that owns water strategy and a team prices as a manager. Housing is provided where the role is farm-based, worth $20,000 to $25,000. A vehicle is standard, $15,000 to $22,000. Bonuses run 5 to 15 per cent of base. The strongest disclosed packages itemise base plus super plus a work vehicle plus a house.
What moves the number.
System complexity and automation set the base, with a 5 to 20 per cent uplift from basic scheduling through to fully automated pump and fertigation systems. Megalitres under management and allocation governance matter. A multi-site water-strategy or capital-works remit sits at the top of the band.
